Pricing via Functional Size: A Case Study of 77 Outsourced Projects

چکیده
A medium-sized west-European telecom company experienced a worsening trend in performance, indicating that the organization did not learn from history, in combination with much time and energy spent on preparation and review of project proposals. In order to create more transparency in the supplier proposal process a pilot was started on Functional Size Measurement pricing (FSM-pricing). In this paper we evaluate the implementation of FSM-pricing in the software engineering domain of the company, as an instrument useful in the context of software management and supplier proposal pricing. We found that a statistical, empirical, evidence-based pricing approach for software engineering, as a single instrument (without a connection with expert judgment), can be used in distributed environments to create cost transparency and performance management of software project portfolios. Estimating the Cost of Water and the Economic Value of Water in the Farmlands Covered by Man-Made Ponds: A Case Study of the Alborz Project Area in Iran
Water pricing is considered as one of the most important management tools of water resources, which can result in optimized allocation in the agricultural sector. In this regard, this study estimated the cost of water and the value of water in the farmlands covered by the selected manmade ponds (MMPs) within the Alborz project area in Mazandaran Province using the engineering economics methods ...

The management of outsourced information systems development (ISD) projects is both complex and problematic due to the type of outsourcing arrangement, the nature of the work that is outsourced, and the relationship between the vendor and client. Moreover, outsourced projects are conducted in an unstructured environment with divergent organizational expectations. Existing project management tec...
متن کاملPresent an Initial Estimation Method for Logical Transaction-based Software Projects
The first and most basic requirement for successful entry of a project, is have a realistic and reasonable estimation. In this paper, in order to increase accuracy of software projects estimation and reduce complexity of estimation process, we introduce a method called the "Logical Transaction Point (LTP)". Our method is most appropriate for transactional software. By use of this method can est...

Resource limitation in zero time may cause to some profitable projects not to be selected in project selection problem, thus simultaneous project portfolio selection and scheduling problem has received significant attention. In this study, budget, investment costs and earnings are considered to be stochastic. The objectives are maximizing net present values of selected projects and minimizing v...

Although the choice of control mechanisms in systems development projects has been extensively studied in prior research, differences in such choices across internal and outsourced projects and their effects of systems development performance have not received much attention. this study attempts to address this gap using data on 57 outsourced and 79 internal projects in 136 organizations. Our r...
